The smartest people I know work really hard to be the dumbest guy in the room. They surround themselves with the most brilliant, creative, talented and experienced people they can find. Then they shut up. They listen. They learn. They set aside their ego and get out of the way. And amazing things happen. But let ego creep in and the process is doomed. Trying to put your fingerprint on something cripples the creative spirit. It kills the passion and excitement for great ideas that makes them happen. It wastes the talent in the room. And it makes you look petty and small.
Be around when great ideas are born and people will start to notice on their own. Quit telling everyone how amazing you are and let your ideas speak for themselves. Because great ideas do that.
